DGL stands for deglycyrrhizinated licorice, a form of licorice root that is soothing to the stomach and esophagus. It also contains Aloe Vera Gel, Marshmallow, and Slippery Elm, which can help to heal the mucosal lining of the GI tract. It helps produce a soothing coat on the esophagus, stomach and intestines. It may help to calm any irritation from excess stomach acid.
I often use DGL as a natural alternative to acid-suppressive medications. We now know that long-term use of acid-suppressive medications can interfere with protein and vitamin absorption and have other negative effects on the gut microbiome.
The deglycyrrhizinated form of licorice does not have any negative effect on blood pressure.

I’ve suffered from aggressive histamine intolerance for years both food based and environmental and have taken Zyrtec daily and explored different elimination diets.
