FAQ

Who can benefit from taking Essential Calcium?
Those with low calcium intake in their diet due to being dairy-free, or eating limited green vegetables can benefit from taking Essential Calcium. Women in menopause can benefit from taking Essential Calcium to help prevent osteoporosis. Those with musculoskeletal pain often benefit from both Essential Calcium and Essential Magnesium.
What makes Essential Calcium superior to other calcium supplements available on the market?
Essential Calcium has 4 types of highly absorbable calcium including calcium hydroxyapatite, dicalcium malate, calcium bisglycinate, and calcium citrate. This combination allows optimal absorption from the gut.
What is the best way to take Essential Calcium?
Essential Calcium is best taken after food or at bedtime. Those on thyroid medication, should make sure there is at least 4 hours between their thyroid medication and Essential Calcium.
What is the dose of Essential Calcium?
2 capsules (500 mg) daily is a standard dose. Women in menopause with osteoporosis can increase the dose to 750 mg (total of 3 capsules) taken in divided doses (2 capsules at one time, and 1 capsule at another time). To reach an optimal range of 1200 mg/ day of calcium, the remainder of the calcium should be obtained from the diet.
What are potential side effects of Essential Calcium?
If you are sensitive, it is possible that calcium can cause constipation. Taking it with Essential Magnesium can help offset this side effect.
Who should not take Essential Calcium?
Essential Calcium should not be used by children under 18 without express approval and supervision by a pediatrician or other qualified healthcare provider. Pregnant or lactating women should consult their physician before starting Essential Calcium.
What allergens are present in Essential Calcium?
Not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, or tree nut ingredients. Produced in a GMP facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens or other trace ingredient carriers. This product contains a trace amount of corn-derived maltodextrin, used as a carrier for certain active ingredients. This product is encapsulated in a vegetarian capsule.
Why Is corn maltodextrin in this product?
Corn maltodextrin is a highly refined ingredient commonly used in dietary supplements as a carrier or processing aid. It stabilizes and preserves the potency of active ingredients during encapsulation and throughout shelf life. The corn maltodextrin in our products is purified to remove detectable allergenic corn proteins, making it generally safe for most individuals with corn sensitivities, though tolerances may vary. Used in minimal amounts, it has no significant nutritional or physiological impact but ensures proper dosing, stability, and reliability of the supplement.
How should I store Essential Calcium?
Essential Calcium should be stored in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Is Essential Calcium third-party tested?
Yes, all our supplements are third-party tested. Each product is crafted with the highest quality ingredients and undergoes rigorous third-party testing to ensure optimal purity, potency, and safety. We’re committed to providing you with supplements you can trust, free from harmful contaminants and unnecessary fillers.

Essential Calcium Review

Dr. Rasjree just gets things right a lot. First the size then my story. The size, finally not a horse-pill that few can swallow and not a chew/gummy filled with sugar and fillers. Kudos Dr. Rasjree. With her easy to follow instructions, I take this once per night with more of her supplements.

Now my story: I hope that it helps someone who may be struggling with thyroid issues.

21 years ago, I was told I had no option but to remove my thyroid for Graves disease. Unfortunately, that is not true today. I was made a lifer for big pharma. I was put on synthetic thyroid medicine (synthroid/levo) and within a year of my surgery I could barely walk and many of my teeth shattered out of my face. I did not feel well on synthetic thyroid medicine as stomach issues started too. The problem was eventually discovered that my vitamin d levels were at 10. And my total calcium blood test was deleted by the hospital... It looked like I might have had transient hypoparathyroidism from the surgery. My understanding is that if your calcium levels drop, your vitamin D reserves kick in to up your calcium levels and then your Vitamin D levels get depleted. So it's possible your calcium levels look normal when you're finally tested for vitamin D. I was treated with a mega dose of vitamin D.

A couple of years later, still not feeling optimal, I found a non-endocrinologist doctor who willingly let me try Armour. As my latest doctor told me, up until 2002, Armour is what doctors prescribed. In my experience, endocrinologists will refuse to put you on dessicated pig thyroid meds. Armour thyroid has been around since 1891. For almost 17 years I was on Armour or NP thyroid.

In 2022, I saw an endocrinologist who took me off Amour and put me back on synthetic. It again destroyed more teeth and gave me severe digestive issues. While this may not be the norm for everyone, it is for me. Medicine is not one size fits all.

What I found out, is synthetic thyroid medicine destroys or leeches my calcium levels. My vitamin d levels had been normal for 17 years but were now down to 7. Seventeen years apart and I had the same exact thing happen. This is not a coincidence.

Long story, long... If you are on synthetic thyroid medicine, get your total calcium and D levels checked. If your doctor won't do it, order them yourself online.

I am back on NP thyroid as I found a new non-endocrinologist doctor who took me off synthetic but a little too late and trying to heal from the damage synthetic did to me.

I write this as Dr. Rasjree, seems to understand there is connection between thyroid disease and gut health. I'm adding the calcium connection. Her supplements imho, are top notch, easy to follow and her videos are a fountain of knowledge as well as her newsletters.

An endocrinologist once told me, thyroid patients tend to have a lot of gut issues, well what's the common denominator? Not having a thyroid, low thyroid function or Synthetic thyroid medicine that has only been out 23 years vs natural dessicated pig thyroid medicine that's been around since the 1800's...

Great calcium

I’ve been using Essential Calcium for a while, and it seems to be a high-quality supplement. The capsules are easy to swallow, and I appreciate it contains highly absorbable calcium compared to other forms.

Finally!

Finally a calcium that does not cause constipation or upset stomach. My doctor asked me to start taking calcium for bone health. I’ve taken Dr Rajsree’s advise to take it along with magnesium before bed.
