Dr. Rasjree just gets things right a lot. First the size then my story. The size, finally not a horse-pill that few can swallow and not a chew/gummy filled with sugar and fillers. Kudos Dr. Rasjree. With her easy to follow instructions, I take this once per night with more of her supplements.
Now my story: I hope that it helps someone who may be struggling with thyroid issues.
21 years ago, I was told I had no option but to remove my thyroid for Graves disease. Unfortunately, that is not true today. I was made a lifer for big pharma. I was put on synthetic thyroid medicine (synthroid/levo) and within a year of my surgery I could barely walk and many of my teeth shattered out of my face. I did not feel well on synthetic thyroid medicine as stomach issues started too. The problem was eventually discovered that my vitamin d levels were at 10. And my total calcium blood test was deleted by the hospital... It looked like I might have had transient hypoparathyroidism from the surgery. My understanding is that if your calcium levels drop, your vitamin D reserves kick in to up your calcium levels and then your Vitamin D levels get depleted. So it's possible your calcium levels look normal when you're finally tested for vitamin D. I was treated with a mega dose of vitamin D.
A couple of years later, still not feeling optimal, I found a non-endocrinologist doctor who willingly let me try Armour. As my latest doctor told me, up until 2002, Armour is what doctors prescribed. In my experience, endocrinologists will refuse to put you on dessicated pig thyroid meds. Armour thyroid has been around since 1891. For almost 17 years I was on Armour or NP thyroid.
In 2022, I saw an endocrinologist who took me off Amour and put me back on synthetic. It again destroyed more teeth and gave me severe digestive issues. While this may not be the norm for everyone, it is for me. Medicine is not one size fits all.
What I found out, is synthetic thyroid medicine destroys or leeches my calcium levels. My vitamin d levels had been normal for 17 years but were now down to 7. Seventeen years apart and I had the same exact thing happen. This is not a coincidence.
Long story, long... If you are on synthetic thyroid medicine, get your total calcium and D levels checked. If your doctor won't do it, order them yourself online.
I am back on NP thyroid as I found a new non-endocrinologist doctor who took me off synthetic but a little too late and trying to heal from the damage synthetic did to me.
I write this as Dr. Rasjree, seems to understand there is connection between thyroid disease and gut health. I'm adding the calcium connection. Her supplements imho, are top notch, easy to follow and her videos are a fountain of knowledge as well as her newsletters.
An endocrinologist once told me, thyroid patients tend to have a lot of gut issues, well what's the common denominator? Not having a thyroid, low thyroid function or Synthetic thyroid medicine that has only been out 23 years vs natural dessicated pig thyroid medicine that's been around since the 1800's...
