Berberine Pro has Berberine and Alpha Lipoic acid (an antioxidant). Berberine is a plant-derived compound (from the root of the Berberine plant). It is used for Insulin Resistance as well as for treating Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Small Intestine Fungal Overgrowth (SIFO).
SIBO, SIFO and GUT INFECTIONS:
Berberine is used for gut infections like Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Small Intestine Fungal Overgrowth (SIFO), Candida, and Dysbiosis.
For my SIBO or SIFO herbal protocol, take one capsule after each meal, along with Oregano Oil. Add Allicidin if there is methane SIBO (constipation is an indicator that methane may be present). When starting herbals for SIBO, it's best to add one new herb every few days to observe your reactions and allow your body to adjust. Taking Digestive Enzyme Pro with your herbals helps to reduce side effects when treating SIBO or SIFO.
SIBO and SIFO treatment with herbals is typically 4-6 weeks, then reassess your symptoms, and determine if further treatment is needed.

INSULIN-RESISTANCE and BLOOD SUGAR REGULATION:
Berberine is a powerful anti-inflammatory, plant-derived compound used for blood sugar regulation. It helps with insulin resistance by activating your insulin receptors to take up blood sugar. It has been very helpful in patients struggling with weight, insulin resistance, fatty liver disease, pre-diabetes, and diabetes.
Berberine is research proven to help with blood sugar regulation and is as effective as Metformin, a common medication for diabetes. It has the added benefit of being anti-inflammatory on the body. Hence the capsules are super bright yellow!
In addition to diet and exercise, Berberine has helped reverse many cases of Diabetes, Prediabetes, and Insulin Resistance. We also see improvement in patients' lipid profiles and liver enzymes.
For Insulin Resistance, take 1 capsule after each meal three times a day (or you can take all 3 capsules at once with a meal if tolerated this way). This ensures you are getting the full 1 gram of berberine per day.

Berberine does have drug interactions with blood thinners, immunosuppressive medications and other prescription medications. Please discuss with your doctor or pharmacist if you are on prescription medications to check for an interaction.
Berberine should not be taken during pregnancy or lactation.
