Are Your Hormones Balanced? ⚖️
Do you feel balanced when it comes to your hormones?
In women, there are two main hormones that need to be in balance: Estrogen and Progesterone. If your Estrogen is high and not balanced with Progesterone, this is called Estrogen Dominance.
We are also seeing higher Estrogen levels in men as well due to the growing epidemic of obesity. Fat cells produce Estrogen!
Estrogen is broken down in the liver into "clean" metabolites or "dirty" metabolites. Unfortunately, in Estrogen Dominance, there is an increase in the "dirty" metabolites that can drive the growth of cysts (in the ovaries and breasts), fibroid tumors in the uterus, endometriosis, and even breast cancer.
Estrogen Dominance is often the root cause of heavy periods, mood swings (PMS), breast pain, and weight gain (especially in the breasts, hips and thighs). Women with Estrogen Dominance often have a pear-shaped body habitus.
What causes Estrogen Dominance? Please watch my video which reviews the root causes in the diet, gut microbiome, and environmental exposures.
How do we Treat Estrogen Dominance? In addition to the diet and lifestyle changes I describe in the video, there are 3 key supplements I recommend:
Estrogen Balancer has the compounds I3C and DIM, which are found in cruciferous vegetables. That's why I often call it the "broccoli" pill. It promotes the metabolism of Estrogen to "clean" metabolites.
Calcium-D-Glucarate is a special form of calcium that blocks the recycling of Estrogens from the gut microbiome. It blocks an enzyme made by some gut bacteria called beta glucuronidase, that normally promotes the recycling of Estrogens and toxins from the gut. Your hormones and your gut are intricately connected! In fact, the part of your gut microbiome that controls metabolism of Estrogens is referred to as the Estrobolome.
Essential Magnesium helps to keep your bowels regular, which is an important detox pathway for Estrogen. It's also a cofactor for the enzyme called COMT, which metabolizes Estrogen in the liver.
I've seen many amazing transformations in my patients' health by addressing the root causes of their Estrogen Dominance.
